THIRTY Five - Fall 2008

We know cold.
We know months of darkness and we know snow. We know to burn the oil from the great fish for light and we know to catch the great fish with line and hooks and smaller fish for bait. We know to kill the white beast to honor the sun when it leaves us. We know to be silent for three days when the sun returns over the sea so that it will not be frightened. We know that when the sun returns it is time for us to marry.

- Charles Conley, The Final Cold
