The collection of animated films in the Harvard Film Archive consists of over 500 short and feature length titles. Films range from those made by Harvard professors and former students in the Visual and Environmental Studies department, including Helen Hill, Caroline Leaf, Derek Lamb, Eric Martin and Suzan Pitt, to examples of experimental and abstract animation by filmmakers including Jules Engel, Oskar Fischinger, Jan Lenica, and John and James Whitney, and animated shorts from both eastern Europe and Hollywood.
