Houghton Library Tour

Houghton Library Tours of Houghton Library are offered every Friday at 2:00 p.m. Attendees receive a general introduction to the library, followed by a tour of the Emily Dickinson, Amy Lowell, John Keats and William King Richardson rooms, as well as the suite devoted to the Donald & Mary Hyde Collection of Dr. Samuel Johnson.

Reservations for individuals are not required, but advance notice of smaller groups is appreciated. For security and logistical reasons, we cannot accommodate large tour groups. Those wishing to take the tour should meet in the Houghton Library lobby.

Widener Library Tour

Widener LibraryTours of Widener Library are offered every Thursday at 3:00 p.m. for all current Harvard affiliates. Tours are not offered on University holidays and Commencement Day.

The library tour provides an introduction to Widener Library's collections, an orientation to the facilities, including the reading rooms and the stacks, and an explanation of services available to library patrons.

All tours begin just beyond the Security Desk at the main (Yard) entrance of the building. Registration is not necessary, however if you would like to make arrangements for a Harvard affiliated group to tour the library please contact Mikel Burt (617-496-1454). The tour lasts approximately one hour.
