  • Asahi AJW (Asahi, Asia & Japan Watch, 2011- )
    Offered by the Asahi Shimbun (in English) covering events and news on Asia and Japan, some of them are published in its parent paper, The Asahi Shimbun in Japanese. The Asahi AJW is particularly rich in coverage on the recent Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, which appears under a special section entitled “3/11 Disaster in Japan.”
  • CiNii: Journal citation information by the National Institute of Informatics in Japan (NII): Coverage is strongest for the sciences, but some humanities and social sciences content is available since the 1880s to present.
  • JapanKnowledge: Provides access to a wide range of encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other resources, including Nihon dai hyakka zensho (Encyclopedia Nipponica), Encyclopedia of Japan, Nihon jinmei daijiten, Nihon kokugo daijiten, JKN Who's Who, and others.
  • Kikuzo II Visual for Libraries (Asahi Shimbun Online, 朝日新聞, 1879 - )
    Covers both nationwide and regional/local editions, a photographic archive from 1931-1945, a biographical database with 36,000 entries, articles from the weekly magazines Aera (1988-present) and Shukan Asahi (2000-present) , and the most recent edition of the annual new-word dictionary Chiezo.
  • Minryoku 2011: Statistical database with information on local governments, in DVD format.
  • Nikkei Telecom 21 (Nihon Keizai Shimbun Online, 日本経済新聞, 1876- )
    Offers unlimited access to various Nikkei’s own newspapers, magazines and databases, such as Nihon Keizai Shimbun (full text: 1876-1961, 1975- ; between 1961 and 1975 currently available headlines only), Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun (1975- ), Nikkei Kin’yu Shimbun (1987-2008), Nikkei magazine (2005- ), Nikkei WHO’S WHO, Nikkei NEEDS Statistical Data (recent five fiscal years), The Nikkei Weekly (1983- ), and Nikkei Business Daily (1988- ). While primary focus is placed on business and finance, detailed Japanese company and personnel data, as well as micro- and macro-economic statistics are also available.
  • Yomidas Rekishikan (ヨミダス歴史館, Online Yomiuri Shimbun, 読売新聞, 1874 - )
    Presents in PDF from 1874 to 1989; full text 1986 to the present, along with the English edition: the Daily Yomiuri (Sept. 1989- to the present). Also includes biographical information on 26,000 contemporary persons in many fields who are linked to related news articles.

    Comprehensive journal citation information from the Meiji era to the present covering over 13 million articles.
