Harvard-Yenching Library

Western Languages Collection

Overview

Materials in the Western Languages Collection complement those in the East Asian-language collections and are selected to support teaching and research. The Harvard-Yenching Western Languages Collection acquires all Western language course reserves, reference works, scholarly journals (primarily in English), historical newspapers (in microformats) and academic titles, and has particularly strong holdings of newspapers and association publications. The collection focus is on the social sciences and humanities generally, with emphasis on history, language, and literature.

The Western Languages section coordinates the collection in Tibetan and has responsibility for the photographic and personal papers held by the Harvard-Yenching Library.

Questions and comments, including requests for materials and inquiries about how to use the collection, may be directed to James Cheng via e-mail or at 617-495-3327.
