Warren, who lived in Cambridgeport and ran a prominent studio in Boston, photographed Harvard College, Boston's Civil War soldiers, and many leading abolitionists, from Harriet Beecher Stowe, Louisa May Alcott, and Julia Ward Howe to William Lloyd Garrison, Wendell Phillips, Thomas Wentworth Higginson, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, John Greenleaf Whittier, Massachusetts Governor John Andrew, and Frederick Douglass.
