Widener Welcomes Junior Parents
March 5, 2013 - Staff from across HCL welcomed hundreds of parents and families of College juniors to Widener Library, just one of the many events and activities taking place during Junior Parents Weekend. Parents and other family members had the rare opportunity to wind their way through the stacks, get an up close look at the Guttenberg bible and learn about the rich history of Widener Library. Each year the library opens its doors on Junior Parents Weekend, giving library staff the opportunity to discuss how the libraries support research, teaching and learning, and other students’ needs.
Specialists from Houghton and Loeb Music libraries, Maps, Media Data and Government Information, and Preservation, Conservation and Digital Imaging Services were on hand to answer questions and discuss the libraries’ collections and some of the projects that are ongoing, including digitization.
Meanwhile, staff from Widener and the Fine Arts libraries led the tours of the building. In addition to the special tours of Widener, parents were encouraged to visit Lamont, Cabot, Houghton and Widener libraries on their own throughout the weekend.
