Mailing Instructions to Libraries for Sending Items to CSS at 625 Mass Ave.

  • The HUL Messenger Service van makes daily deliveries to CSS at 625 Mass. Ave. Address boxes to us using the Messenger Service slips: CSS, HCL Technical Services, 625 Mass. Ave.

  • Libraries that are not currently served by the Messenger Service should contact the HUL Courier Service by email: hulcourier@hulmail.harvarad.edu and request pickup and delivery of books. Again, address packages to CSS, HCL Technical Services, 625 Mass. Ave.

  • Smaller packages, under 2 lbs., can be sent to us via university mail.

  • Libraries can also take advantage of Messenger Service pickup at the Widener Mail Room. Librarians can request a blue plastic mailing bin at the Widener Mail Room:
    1. Place books in the bin, surrounded by the foam sheets that are in the bin. This will help prevent damage to books in transit. (Guidelines for packing bins are available on the Preservation web site.)
    2. Use mailing labels provided by the Mail Room staff.
    3. Address bins to: CSS, HCL Technical Services, 625 Mass. Ave. Insert the label in the plastic sleeve on the side of the bin and deliver the bin to the Mail Room staff.

Call and email if you have any questions or would like a supply of Messenger Service slips. Slips are also available at the Widener Mail Room.
